stayed at 2 different rooms during this trip, 新館和洋室, and 本館和室6畳, quite a contrast. of course, the latter is much cheaper.
新館和洋室 is large in size for hotels in japan, comfort and modern, comes with a nice in room onsen (人工温泉), and the plan included an above average french dinner. the bread at dinner is really good!
on the contrary, 本館和室6畳 is tiny, no bathing facilities, and worst of all, it has very thin walls. it’s located on 2F near the front desk area, and i could hear most conversations between front desk and customers since very early in the morning, affecting quality of my sleep.
services are good in general, except a bit confused on the private bath arrangement. i was assigned private bath from 9pm to 9:45pm on the first night, when my dinner was scheduled at 8pm and didn’t finish until 9:30pm. this could perhaps due to miscommunication and/or language barrier.
overall, i recommend 新館和洋室 if affordable. if tight on budget, seek elsewhere and do not stay at 本館和室6畳.
