If you enjoy beautiful nature, peaceful surroundings and excellent service, this is onsen (hot spring) resort is for you. There are a number of public and private osen to choose from. All are very scenic, with modern, well-maintained facilities. The food is also excellent, though it includes many unfamiliar (elegant) mountain dishes which some may consider too adventurous. It is easier if you speak Japanese or travel together with someone who does. But the staff go out of their way to welcome you and do speak some English. Check out time is a little early - 1030am - but after some serious relaxing time in the onsen, you will feel sufficiently ready to be on your way to some of the interesting sites nearby such as local waterfalls and adjacent wasabi fields. And the hotel driver can even help you on your way by dropping you at the correct bus station.
