We stayed 1 night. Both the English-speaking staff and other staff are very nice and helpful. Apart from the special room rate for foreign visitors, we also brought discounted ticket of Zao Open-air Hot Spring. It also offers free admission ticket of public baths (within just 1-2 minutes walking distance). Unfortunately, we were not able to visit these public baths due to the rainy weather. We ordered BBQ set and Hot Pot set for dinner. The food is yummy and got cherries as dessert. It would be better to have them in winter as we sweat a lot at first :P The Ryokan is a traditional Japanese style 3-storey bldg and pet-friendly. Our room is located on the 3rd floor, with toilet and a small balcony. Our neighbor guests are having a dog, yet we are quite comfortable as it does not bark at all. Pt to note: No lift in the Ryokan and be prepared to walk up/downstairs across the Main and Annex. All in all, it is a great place to enjoy Japanese culture at an attractive price.
