When I checked out, the counter staff could not speak English. She kept speaking Chinese to me and we could not communicate. I got very confused by her until another staff explained in English to me how to get to the car park. This is very simple English and she needs to use it every day. She could have written it down in English and show to foreign customers. I hope your hotel would not require your customers to speak either Japanese or Chinese.
